Odors Emitted from Biological Waste and Wastewater Treatment Plants: A Mini-Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

In recent decades, a new generation of waste treatment plants based on biological treatments (mainly anaerobic digestion and/or composting) has arisen all over the world. These have been progressively substituted for incineration facilities and landfills. Although these evident benefits in terms their environmental impact higher recovery material energy, release into atmosphere malodorous compounds its mitigation is one main challenges that face. this review, methodology to determine odors, causes having undesirable gaseous emissions, characterization odors are reviewed. Finally, another important topic odor abatement technologies treated, especially those related low-impact processes. conclusion, control challenge sustainable implementation modern plants.

Hazardous solid waste from domestic wastewater treatment plants.

The treatment of liquid wastes in municipal sewage treatment plants creates significant quantities of solid residue for disposal. The potential hazard from these wastes requires that their characteristics be determined accurately to develop environmentally sound management criteria. It is readily recognized that the sludge characteristics vary with the type and degree of industrial activity wit...

Titrimetric Biosensing of Biological Wastewater Treatment Plants

The development of titrimetric sensor applications to monitor biological wastewater treatment processes is shortly described, and the measurement principle (based on a pH controller) is illustrated. 3 applications that were developed during the past years are used to illustrate the capabilities of titrimetric sensors. The ammonium and the nitrate concentration can be measured to monitor the nit...

Nanofiltration for water and wastewater treatment – a mini review

The application of membrane technology in water and wastewater treatment is increasing due to stringent water quality standards. Nanofiltration (NF) is one of the widely used membrane processes for water and wastewater treatment in addition to other applications such as desalination. NF has replaced reverse osmosis (RO) membranes in many applications due to lower energy consumption and higher f...
